Tonight Josh was working on his homework and on his spelling word list was a new column for "synonyms". Josh pronounces it more like "cinnamon" but gets the idea that it is a replacement for the word.
He got through the first seven words, including "both" in which he came up with "two". The next word was "four". He put it into a sentence, and nothing popped as an option. I told him about "quad" and he wasn't impressed. Then I told him about a thesaurus... how it was a book of synonyms. So we went online, typed in "four" and read through the word options. "Square" and "quadrangle" were the only ones I had heard of. Then Josh started to laugh uncontrollably... he saw the one he was going to write on his homework... "preantepenultimate". And that's how we learned about synonyms.
