My View

It's been such a long week. In a span of 7 days, I found out I was having surgery on my neck, then thyroid cancer, then a second surgery, and the best, most curable type of thyroid cancer.

The boys have had a bouncy house party, a 5k run downtown, a Camp Fire holiday party, another bday party at ChuckEs, and a sleepover at the Hudson Ranch. They have been present enough to know what's going on and cuddle with me at every opportunity. Yet distracted enough to have an interesting week.

I figured round 2 of surgery in 3 days wouldve wiped me out. Instead, Yet today I felt recovered and strong. I have spent days writing and answering emails and phone calls from people I care most about. I felt the power of prayers, well wishes, good thoughts, chanting, and curses. I have an amazing surgeon, friends to sit with Liz and me, great anesthesia with no nausea, intentive nurses, a private room with a view, a comfy bed, a side table with a poinsettia and snowman, and my beautiful girl snoring quietly in the corner.

This is the view from my hospital bed tonight. And I can't imagine a more peaceful scene. I think I will have a buttonful of joy juice and go back to sleep.

Thank you God for your blessings.
