Josh went to his first day of Sambica day camp this morning. To say yesterday's registration didn't go well would be an understatement. Everything about it freaked him out. So this morning I didn't know quite what to expect.
We stopped for a special breakfast at Starbucks. Vanilla bean scones and eleanor coffees. When we made it, the drive circled a field filled with bouncy houses, soccer, a ball game called gaga that looked like dodgeball but only with your feet. Luke immediately was saying "no fair"!!! Despite far from ideal weather, 60 and soggy, it looked so fun!
Josh's counselor Fonix, who reminds me of Aunt Margo, met him at the truck. When he met her yesterday, he couldn't say a word. So far today though, he was moving along without a tear or a fight. He grabbed his backpack filled with swim stuff that won't be used plus his word find and chapter books and a Bible. Sambica is a Christian based camp, VBS on steroids is what I call it. I think it will be a good experience for him. Its definitely a stretch. But it seems well-run and fun. Time will tell. This momma is nervous.
