First Snow

Today we had the first snow of the year... of the winter season really. It came down in huge flakes around 9:30 am, straight down. So perfectly straight down from the sky that it was strange to see. About 1/2" accumulated on the grass and road, which was enough for our next-door neighbors Sam and Rory to go sledding down their driveway with their mom. It wasn't the easiest sledding, but good enough.

Josh and I went to Patty's house today for lunch. Josh and Nicholas played pretty well together. Madelyn really had grown since we'd seen her. She was just over 12 pounds, and was wearing a fuzzy red and multi-color striped outfit we'd gotten for her. All that fuzzy black hair, and now blue eyes. (Not a surprise, both mom & dad have blue eyes.) We all had a such good time. The highlight though? Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies! The next best? Josh got a shape sorter dump truck from Nicholas. It was a nice visit.

We have just about finished redoing the laundry room. We painted and laid new vinyl tile flooring, and it looks great! The faucets to the laundry are a little leaky, but tightening the nut to the faucet handle seems to have done the trick. I've started our first load of laundry since we got back from our Christmas trip. We are really running out of clothes! Even so, it was really worth it, and it looks fantastic. That old flooring was so tired. The same ugly pattern is in the guest bathroom, but at least that is still in good shape. Next home project? To refinish and seal the new pine toy/blanket chest. I will start on it this weekend over in Tom's heated workshop. I also have "wood floor church" at Lowe's on Saturday. It's been a lot of fun knocking out some of these projects that we've wanted to do for awhile. Let's hope that the momentum continues!
